Latest $1.9 Trillion & Income Used for Eligiblity

Hey Folks,

With the latest $1.9 trillion stimulus package, what income levels are they going to use? Is it going to offer the opportunity to use 2021 income and get any eligible amounts when we file 2021 taxes? Our income is expected to be much lower in tax year 2021 vs. tax year 2020.

Re: What have you baked recently?

This is the best bread recipe. Our family LOVES this bread!

I make it without these two ingredients:

1 tablespoon (8g) King Arthur Whole-Grain Bread Improver
1/2 cup (74g) Harvest Grains Blend

Re: W4 IRS calc | Why does it exclude health premiums?

But I thought employee paid health premiums were pre-tax deductions?

The W4 wants Gross Wages to begin...less things like 401k and HSA contributions. But I thought employee paid health premiums also reduced your taxable income to arrive at your W2 income (eventually to a net taxable income).

W4 IRS calc | Why does it exclude health premiums?

Why does the W4 IRS calc exclude something like Health/Dental Premiums? Don't they reduce your taxable income? They ask for info like 401k and HSA contributions but I don't see where they ask for the employee premiums paid. Am I missing something with the tool or with the concept?

401k and leaving employer

Hi Folks,

I left an employer a couple months ago and have about $200k in a 401k.

Are there any tax planning ideas that I should consider at this point? I'm 37.

I believe expense ratio's are lower if I keep it in the 401k.

From a legal standpoint, have I read 401k's are protected against bankruptcy and/or lawsuits?

What's the general consensus? Keep funds at my age in a 401k or consolidate into an IRA, etc?

Child Tax Credits, AOTC, etc

Hi Folks, I'm trying to plan for the tax implications of my children aging out of our home. How should I plan for the impact of child tax credit, AOTC credits, etc? #1 Child Tax Credit | My understsanding is I'll lose the child tax credit in the year my child turns 17. #2 AOTC | This seems to apply for each of the 4 years of higher ed (i.e., college) https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/individuals/aotc Scenario: If I have a child who will be 17 and 18 and still in high school, does this mean that I'll lose the child tax credit and not be able to qualify for the AOTC yet? i.e., lose the $2k child tax credit for several of those years until he begins college? Is there another way they qualify for any of these credits or any other credits I...

Re: Health care expenses in retirement

Thanks for the reply...I was looking to see what people were using more specifically rather than just generic figures portrayed in very high-level news articles.

Health care expenses in retirement

Hi, I'm late 30s and trying to project some kind of health care cost into my future, especially during retirement. What is the average retiree spending on health care in today's $$ so that I could at least make some kind of inflation assumption?

I know there are many unknowns but trying to at least get in the ballpark of what could be expected so that I know whether we're saving enough for retirement.

Thoughts on how to help fence this estimate in?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, recharacterize and backdoor or they could convert the excess contributions to a Trad IRA. We had this happen last year.
