Re: Don't hit that "File" button in your tax software till you know what filing early does to your 3rd stimulus check
At no point do I want to speculate on politics. My question is, can I simply not file for up to three years and will the IRS continue to use my 2019 tax return as the basis for my qualification towards any dispersments? I've been thinking the same thing and curious if there has been any similar sit...

Re: How crazy is it to hold 100% equities until retirement? (ERN)
Add my vote for ef in bonds and everything else 100% stocks. I’ve done this for over 10 years and am so far ahead of where I’d be had I kept a significant bond mix I am in a better position even if there is a drop. That seems very difficult for some to grasp. It's very easy to grasp, but it's irrel...

Re: Maternity leave and job stability
I highly suggest you take the maximum. I’ve seen coworkers not take it and still get laid off less than a year later. I took it and did not. That’s months of time with your family you can never get back. At most of these large companies a week after you’re back no one even thinks about it.

Re: Overfund 401k to get match?
Silk, I don't see why the new employer would care, they offer matching and wouldn't be involved in any of the refund issues as far as I know. If this is somehow unethical I won't do it. It seems like thousands of dollars wasted if I don't.
Suemarkp, Thanks for that idea, I will check.

Overfund 401k to get match?
I'm switching jobs and will have already maxed out a pre-tax 401k ($19,500). In order to get the match from my new employer, I could fund a 401k there as well. I understand at the end of the year I will have to take out the over-contribution. Would I get to keep the match? Is this a good idea?

Re: 1.3M at 30 - what would you do?
It sounds like you've made your mind up, but since you asked, if I was in your situation I would definitely not work. Your situation and age probably put you in a better financial situation than 99.9%+. You could have your full energy into reading, learning, exploring the world, volunteer, do hobby ...

Re: Front load years 401k contributions when moving from high tax state to no tax state?
Yes, sorry for the ambiguity. I am keeping the same job and was talking about just front-loading during the year of the move only. I will continue to contribute in future years. I was thinking if I contribute all pre-tax/19,500 in the first few months it will greatly reduce my state income taxes bef...

Another satisfied customer. If rates drop much more it might not be worth dealing with another bank.

Re: Front load years 401k contributions when moving from high tax state to no tax state?
Thanks everyone for the info and welcomes. I’ve been a long time lurker, I plan on posting more. I will plan on doing the traditional 401k contributions before moving. As far as retirement account savings rate I am about 25% on >200k. Beyond the traditional limit I have a mega Roth. I know it could ...

Front load years 401k contributions when moving from high tax state to no tax state?
If next year I am moving from a high tax state to a no tax state for the majority of the year, regarding taxes, is it smarter to front load traditional 401k contributions while living in the high tax state or will I end up owning the same amount either way?
Thanks for any advice!
