Re: Banks Cashing paper Savings Bonds
I’m in the neighborhood…San Ramon Valley.
I’ve been with BofA for 50+ years. Approximately 3yrs. ago, I went to my branch to cash 50K worth of $1000 face value EE bonds. The number of bonds were to many for them to cash. BofA did assist with the redemption paperwork, sent them in for me and the 50k was in my account 3 weeks later.
Last year, I went back in with 7 EE bonds $1000 face value. They sent me straight to the teller line, which in turn, cashed the bonds for me…took about 15-20 minutes.
Good luck!

Brondell CS 1000 toilet seat bidet from Costco.com. Currently $499…purchased on sale over 2 years ago for $299.
Undoubtedly the best purchase I’ve ever made…didn’t know what I was missing. Does it all with remote control. Haven’t needed tp since.
The only caveat, you’ll need a plug outlet near the toilet.
Get a bidet toilet or toilet seat…you’ll love it!

Re: Should I pay more for a plumber to install garbage disposal versus a handyman?
Both install prices seem high. A handyman my sister recommended installed a new disposal for me a few months ago.
When he finished, I asked him how much I owed him, and he said $50. I didn’t think it’d be that cheap, so I gave him $75…win win.
Since, he’s installed new closet doors, LED lights in the kitchen, garage solar fan, etc.
I’m a lucky guy to have found such a competent, reliable, reasonable handyman.

Absolutely! Been a walker my entire life.
From 50+ years on the golf course, to the streets and parks upon retiring.
Usually walk 2-2.5 miles 6-7 days a week, used to do more but currently my 70 old hip & hamstring
like to protest.
FYI if you’re walking the sidewalks, watch those raised expansion joints. My toe caught one last year, couldn’t recover and landed on my knees, hands, & chin. I like to think I’m not a klutz, but…
Now I walk the inside of the street facing on coming traffic. No trip hazards…just cars!

The only good thing to come out of Covid, was that my current gardeners decided to take a hiatus…fair enough.
That gave me a chance to meet Noe & Daniel, gardeners who also worked my court. What a blessing, they are hard working, meticulous sob’s. I couldn’t be happier.
Previous gardeners were strictly “mow & blow”,N & D do everything and wanted less money for it.
I gave them an instant raise. They appreciate me and I sure appreciate them.
So, if you have a great gardening crew, don’t be afraid to slip them an extra $20 through out the year for a job well done. It won’t change your lifestyle, but it could help there’s.

Re: Seeking advice on researching cars prior to buying
I’ve leased a couple of Acura MDX’s, my current 2020 MDX I purchased. It’s a PMC Edition (Performance Manufacturing Center) built in Marysville Ohio. In 2020 during the pandemic Acura’s master technicians “hand built” 330 of these MDX’s. All custom painted in Valencia red…unbelievable paint job. Prior to this PMC was only manufacturing Acura’s NSX super car. It comes with the Aspec & Advance package, the only MDX that has both.
Google it and see if it’s an Acura you may consider…solid, solid, solid!
Good luck on your choice.

I sold my 2015 Panamera 4S one year ago after scratching the itch for two years. Can’t say enough wonderful things about the car. The fit & finish, power, handling, and comfort were 2nd to none.
I know you’re looking for a GTS, but the 4S is a great alternative. The 4 WD with adaptive air suspension was night and day in ride comfort in comparison to others.
The V8 GTS has a little more “growl” than the V6 TT 4S, but power is very similar.
Good luck in your choice.
In retrospect I wish I never sold, the itch is still there for this almost 70 year old.

Had a 22kw Generac w/2transfer switches and NG hook up installed in July. Kohler gave me a quote based on a phone interview (would not come out to the property). They wanted $17.5K with no guarantee that the install cost couldn’t go higher…bye-bye Kohler! Signed up on line with Generac thru Costco. I was contacted within the hour and the owner of the electrical co., was at my house that afternoon to assess the install and give me an estimate. How great is that! Total cost with generator, transfer switches, install and permits $15K. With Costco’s 10% of cash card and 2% rewards rebate…final cost was $13k. Everything went as smooth as silk! It exercises every 2 weeks for 5 minutes and will power the entire house, pool etc. in a power outage.

On the 16th tee he took a mighty swing, hit the ball, which proceeded to go THROUGH his legs, hit the tee block behind his back and then ricocheted about 10’ thru a rubber grommet and into a soda can recycle garbage can! It took the group awhile to get off the ground from laughing! 2nd blooper...the course was wet due to recent rains. The golfer was a big guy that over swung and held nothing back. On the 15th tee he took his usual rip at it, and cold topped it. The ball went into the ground about 6’ in front of hi...

A hole that cannot be left out...one of the most picturesque and toughest par 3’s on the planet! #16 at Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, Ca.. 222 yds., all carry over the cliffs of the Pacific Ocean to a pin point green encircled in sand and ice plant...good luck. I was fortunate enough to play it in the 1985 California State Amateur. Pure golf! Yikes! Forced carry with no layup (fallback position) in sight. #16 at Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, Ca 225 yards. Some Tour Pros might use a 6-7 iron?  Today’s pro’s on a calm day may be pulling a 6 or 7 iron. In 1985 with a 25 mi. per hour wind in your face, you’d be hitting a driver that had a persimmon head. Yikes! I started with a persimmon set of woods from the Salvati...

#18 at Pebble Beach...one of the greatest finishing holes in golf!
Jack Nicklaus always said, if I had only one round left to play, it would be at Pebble Beach.
Couldn’t agree more.

Re: Hassle free luxury car
As I stated in an earlier post, I purchased a Panamera 4S this year. With adequate research and numerous test drives, here’s a couple of observations.
IMO the base Panamera is underpowered with a very firm ride...you will feel every bump! Nothing luxurious about that.
The 4S was a night and day eye opening experience. With a V6 twin turbo (plenty of power) an a AWD (adaptive air suspension) the ride is luxurious.
Some Porsche enthusiasts don’t care for the look of the Panamera, others love it...I guess you know what camp I’m in.
Hope this helps with your selection.

Re: Hassle free luxury car
Have owned BMW 7 series, MB 350, & Acura MDX. Purchased a 2015 Porsche Panamera 4s last June with 22,500 mi., for 44k! A depreciation drop of over 60 % in 5 years. What a beautiful car!
JD Powers rates it 4.5 out of 5 in reliability.
I have a great Indy mechanic who steered me away from a gorgeous 2017 BMW 750i to the Porsche.
IMO the Panamera has everything going for it in a luxury car. For this 67 yr. old, it’s stupid fast & brings a smile to my face every time I fire it up!

Re: Any car enthusiasts? (or soon to be)
Just turned 67 and enjoying a 2015 Porsche Panamera 4s that I purchased in June for 44K,
with 22k miles with a sticker price of 119k.
Pretty hefty depreciation!
What’s not to love...comfort, power, handling, styling and yes, 4 doors! Couldn’t be happier.
Will drive this car for as long as my driving skills allow.

Re: Buying a new car using Costco
We used the Costco auto program in September of 2018. DW wanted a Honda HRV and we leased one over the Labor Day Weekend. The designated dealership greeted us with a better “Labor Day Special” than the apparent Costco pricing...so we thought. Upon the Costco follow up, they were not happy! Costco requested numbers from us and found the dealership owed us $450!!
Upon turn-in that $450 will be returned to us.
You may not get the best deal...but Costco has got your back, Jack!!
