Being house poor is a horrible feeling. If you feel like you will always be able to afford a 1.5 million dollar home no matter what happens to you in life then go for it. As for me and my house, middle of the road (or even a little less) is just fine.

Investors lose more money hedging to the downside than any other decision they make. I would recommend hedging to the upside. Markets are trading at nice discounts right now.

Since most of the wealth is transferred during market corrections and large crashes, I would say high volatility gives better returns. Whatever you do, don't panic and sell! Stay in the game at all times.

I would go 30 and make an extra payment when I get a bonus, etc...Can pay off in 15 years or sooner. You may decide to delay paying it off with rates so low!

Why do just the three fund portfolio? Why not do both? In fact there is nothing wrong with doing the three fund portfolio, individual equities, and also having a managed account with small fees all at the same time. Investing doesn't have to be an all or none strategy.

Yes. You should adjust to an allocation that does not give you anxiety. No amount of money is worth feeling anxious about your investments. If that's 1% stocks and 99% bonds, do it. You know why? Because if the market goes down you won't touch it and that in and of itself might save your retirement....
