At my MegaCorp, they publish join by dates to be eligible for raises/bonuses. It's usually 4 months before raises/bonuses are paid out so technically you could work there for 5 months and still get a raise and decent bonus.

Just bought a factory refurbished small form factor HP from Amazon for $150. Came with mouse and keyboard, i5 proc, 8GB ram, 120 GB SSD and Win10 Pro. Been there, done that. Power wash and then stain. You don't have to spray the stain if there are concerns about over-spraying. Using a paint brush will work just as well. Eventually the stain will fade out too. I'd say once every 5 years.
