Re: Issue with Mortgage Interest - TurboTax Deluxe 2020 (Desktop)

Does anyone know if you have multiple 1098’s, on the return TT transmits to the IRS, are there any schedules/ worksheets that separately list the individual 1098’s and related information? If not, then presumably on your tax return, the IRS only sees the consolidated numbers (regardless of how TT ha...

Re: Issue with Mortgage Interest - TurboTax Deluxe 2020 (Desktop)

I noticed at the bottom of the 1098 section at the bottom there is a link for “multiple 1098s related to a refinance done in 2020”. Basically tells you to add the two 1098s together into one. That seems like a sloppy workaround. Agreed, because the 1098's furnished to the IRS would not match your t...

Issue with Mortgage Interest - TurboTax Deluxe 2020 (Desktop)

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone else has encountered this problem and can help me figure out to resolve it. I'm using the desktop version of Turbo Tax Deluxe 2020. I refinanced my mortgage a couple times in 2020 so I have more than one 1098. When I enter each 1098 individually, the software does not...

Re: Refinance Mega Thread

I’ve heard that Chase is extending rate locks for free because their processing times are running a little slow. YMMV, but as long as you’re responsive when they have requests for information, you’d have a pretty good case for them extending it if needed. Doing it for free is also consistent with wh...

Re: Is Amex Blue Cash preferred card still worth keeping?

For those comparing between the Preferred and Everyday cards, check your benefits. Amex dropped a lot of stuff from the Everday card in 2020, like return protection and other such things.the Preferred card still has these. I'm not sure those benefits are really worth $95/year, though. Amex return p...

Anyone working with Chase and know if there’s any truth to what I’m being told here? Apparently they are having trouble getting the new 2021 conforming loan limits into their systems. It also seems as though the system might be cycling on and off more frequently, but that's hard to know for sure since before it was previously easy to just tune out, and now I notice it every time it turns on because the air return vent is immediately next to my home office. Keep an eye on this. A...

Applied with lenderFi just now and the 2.5% rate I see comes with $3000 in closing costs. I have a conforming loan amount of 465K, excellent credit and a LTV of 80%. Sounds like some people are getting closing costs covered at 2.5. I filled out the online form, so imagine they will contact me. Hope...

What's the best way to evaluate whether or not it's worth paying down a jumbo mortgage to the conforming loan limit to refinance into a better rate?
