To soften the blow of a market crash, I invest in US Treasury bonds. Yes. REITS are equities. The best way to reduce equity risk is to reduce equity exposure, not add more equities. I would agree. What concerns me is when I read posts comparing and relating REITs to bonds as a bond substitute. Tony

Another option is to call Vanguard PAS and have them manage and clean up. You can cancel at any time.

I would look to simplify and reduce. A couple (or few) total market index funds is all that is needed.

Indeed. 15% (or 0% and 20% depending on tax bracket).

I am not so sure REITs are as popular today as they once where. The lack of responses enforces that perhaps.

It places less stress on a portfolio when retired or even working where one suffers a job loss. Minimum amount needed to live is a lower hurdle.
