Re: Tales from this insane real estate market [Home sales]
I’m currently involved in a housing market I really have. I business being it Wife’s grandma passed and her home is currently listed for just under $10 million. It’s a likely tear down as it’s so old and wildly out of date for its area and on a large lot that would allow for a larger house Unfortunately my wife’s mom died about 20 years ago and my mite’s less than intelligent (or moral) aunt is in charge of settling the estate and the home sale (which is the entire estate basically) House has been on the market for 5 months now. With very little action They had had one offer over $10 mil but it fell through Since then nothing Curious. What is the general metro area of the house? Size, age & acerage? Re: Handling Potential Job Offer Negotiation
Yeah, I got a job offer and I can negotiate it to the following compensation package Salary: $170,000 RSU: $180,000 ($45,000 per year with a 1 year cliff) Relo Reimbursement: $5,000 grossed up lump sum Seems decent for the NYC area, especially for someone who is a state government employee previously with no upwards career trajectory. I'm leaning towards accepting and leaving my hometown for the NYC area. Am a little scared to do it because (1) it goes out of comfort zone (2) finding a place to live in the NYC city is a significant challenge and I am liable for any employment agreement/contract violations if I don't appear on site at such and such an agreed upon time. And I'd only have 2 months to pull that entire shebang off and complete ...

Re: Handling Potential Job Offer Negotiation
The recruiter needs to be doing more of this work. She should know the industry and what similar placements have secured, either through her own placements or others in her firm. Businesses can be leary of government employees moving into the private sector...I'm sure you are aware of the stereotype. You are unlikely to get a top offer as a result. You can mitigate that via high level performance on the job. Unlike government employment where step increases and promotions are pretty much automatic, a great private employer will reward performance via bonuses and increased compensation because they can't afford to lose a top performer over a 25-50% salary disparity. Good luck. And insist your recruiter do her job. I get the impression he is...

Which is appreciated that she gets my dilemma I’m moving to a “pod lead” role for the segment of the business I recruit for. I won’t have direct reports but I will be leading a team of more junior recruiters and sourcers. Is it possible (and hassle free) to someone do this? Or would I need to save a portion biweekly and then do a lump sum backdoor roth at the end of the year?

Very good job so far. Here are a couple of thougths: 1. You definitely need term life insurance policies on both of you. Given the young age of your children, I would go with 20 year term policies - that way you are covered through college for both of them. 2. You definitely should get an umbrella policy given your income stream and assets. Annual cost of an umbrella vary by carrier, but assume $200-$300 max. FYI - I was just quoted a $5MM with $1MM in Uninsured motorist coverage for @$750 3. You have relocated from CA to IL. Her job does not require complete silence. She does. She struggles with a focus disorder and plans to seek out available treatment options in 2024.
When she was studying for exams, she used to check into a hotel for days and request no calls. Sure, there were occasional hallway or room noises, but for some reason they bothered her less than at home.
