Re: Ronzoni Pastina To Be Discontinued
I can’t speak to specific fancy shapes, but as a general rule it is simple to make pasta at home. We stopped buying pasta years ago once we figured out that it was easier and cheaper to make it fresh; it also tastes wonderfully better than anything bought at a store. Here is what is needed — there are undoubtedly other approaches: 1. KitchenAid Standing Mixer (expensive but a vital piece of equipment for all chefs and bakers). If our house were to catch on fire, I would save the mixer before anything else, including our estate planning documents. 2. Pasta attachment for the Mixer; the standard pasta attachment comes with four key constituents: (a) roller; (b) spaghetti cutter; (c) fettuccini cutter; and (d) simple pasta recipe book. 3. The ...

Re: Did President Biden sign the omnibus bill with Secure 2.0?
You are welcome.
The President is in the US Virgin Islands for the next several days, so presumably he will be signing the legislation there. https://factba.se/biden/calendar; https://www.wdel.com/features/biden/. There won't be any big signing ceremony either; he's on vacation and the omnibus is a typical, end-of-the-year thing, sadly. So the Blue Angels won't be flying over the White House when he signs it. The signing will be a yawner instead. He is scheduled to return to DC on January 2, 2023. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/joe-biden- ... new-years/.

Re: Did President Biden sign the omnibus bill with Secure 2.0?
The legislation (HR 2617) containing the referenced legislation -- the "SECURE 2.0 Act of 2022" -- has passed Congress but has not yet been signed by the President. An official -- and maybe "the" official -- source of information on the status of legislation is Congress.gov. (Historical note: Back in the day, when web sites were first getting started, this site used to be known as "Thomas.gov." Why? Thomas Jefferson started the Library of Congress by donating his personal library to it. Well actually, he didn't donate his books. He sold them to Congress for $23,950 in 1815. DC old timers such as myself still bemoan the day when Thomas.gov morphed into Congress.gov. https://www.loc.gov/exhibits/jefferson/jefflib...

Re: Why a Glide Path to Retirement?
For me, I decided long ago that I didn’t want to *have to* work past 55. I might keep working past that point for personal fulfillment, but I wanted to be FI by 55. My assumption was that I shouldn’t *assume* continued high wage e ploy ent would be available to me past that point. I’ve seen and heard too many people living the big life, up u til the music stops at 50 or 55. And I’d didn’t want that to be me. My personal observation is that my personal job satisfaction dropped off a cliff, seemingly overnight. Others have had similar experiences. I envy those that continue to enjoy their careers indefinitely. A quote that comes to mind for me, is “If you want to learn to hate the thing you love, do it for a living”. So for me, I was 100/0 u...
