Re: Late payment to Amex - no adjustment possible?
This is not accurate information. A payment that was 2 days late will not affect your credit score. It takes over a 30 day miss to affect your score.BolderBoy wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 11:11 amAsk away, no harm.ipod_keith wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 9:27 amSo before I call back and do this, I was wondering if any bogleheads have any advice. Is asking for the adjustment too unreasonable? (I cannot imagine it is).
The harm will come later when your credit score takes a big hit for the late payment. And the hit will last for years. Late payments are the single biggest factor in one's FICO scoring.
Sorry.

Re: Late payment to Amex - no adjustment possible?
AMEX is just following the terms in the contract. You can’t really blame the company for the late fee when you were the one that made the late payment. I have done it before with a different credit card and just wrote it off as a lesson learned. The company would not take back the late fee. Odds are that it would happen with any of your credit cards. I have all my cards set to auto pay the minimum so I will never have a late fee again. I would encourage you not to cancel.
