I just negotiated a renewal of my current plan of 15/1 Mbps plus phone with long distance for $46 after all taxes/fees.
Last time they tried to put me in a data cap plan, but I resisted that like crazy. As OP pointed out, streaming could get very expensive in that scenario.

They gave us a huge warning on this, so no surprises. It is still a value.
But, it it starts to creep, then we will check out the competition, maybe switch for a while for variety. The grandfathering was to prevent people doing that.
