One possible thought - ask if landlord will take credit card if you pay a surcharge such as 2.5%. That right there is basically your "insurance" (if the landlord accepts this) as a credit card dispute seems like a slam dunk.

I tried this a few years back with Vanguard in hopes of a more automated, streamlined way to manage entire portfolio. Hit similar constraints and simply keep everything in Excel.

Basically a classic case of excellent plan - not executed vs. good plan - executed vigorously.

Thanks all. My conclusions are twofold:

1) The product is "legit" in so far as Lemonade is not actually taking on the insurance risk, but North American, a well established life insurance company
2) At least in my case, the offer was woefully uncompetitive

Theoretically: no. Practically: yes. Why? For behavioral reasons, IMHO having a smallish bond allocation 10 to 20 percent can help one from making large mistakes. Positive psychological effect of rebalancing in a major equity downturn should not be discounted.
