In america i was not aware a distinction was made. If bought and sold mark to market by year end it was treated as ordinary income and if held beyond that then capital gains. But i could be wrong.

255. Single income 60k taxes. We find that when two of us work its better in terms of taxes than one. Even better is if one of us would work for the state-more tax advantaged accounts, cheaper health plans etc. so that is what spouse is trying to do. If she can contribute to a 401k get a pension etc...
