Our ratio has nothing to do with net worth, when we bought our present house, the mortgage was about 10% of net pay. Personally, though conservative, we would not want to exceed that.

However, we are minimal and don't desire anything fancy. We also have no friends to entertain, haha.

No plan to change, but of course, this response is meaningless. We only find ourselves in a tipping situation 6-7 times per year. We simply don't eat out.

We completely remodeled our first condo and first house. What a waste of time and money. It did not bring us any joy, now, we have lived in our house for 8+ years and are completely happy with builder grade cabinets, showers, etc. It works and that is all that matters.
