For the last couple years we have used a Bissell Air Ram. Battery lasts 30-40 minutes, easy to empty (but small) cannister, definitely sucks up particles on wood and laminate flooring. Surprised at how well this one worked out. Would not try to chase a Golden Retriever with one though.
