Simple IRA AND 401k Available to me this year
Because of a sale of the business I work for, I have the ability to contribute to my existing SIMPLE before we switch to the new owners 401k. I would be able to get near the max for the year in the simple by deferring all salary to it, and would also like to max the 401k when it becomes available. I...

I created a new Trad IRA after two years had elapsed on my Vanguard SIMPLE and do yearly transfers from SIMPLE to IRA. This achieves a .1 lower expense ratio. Not much immediate savings, but compounded I figure it's worth it for the minimal amount of work. I guess i'm still paying the $25/yr fee per...

As a former AC tech, for very small leaks we would use a leak sealer sold in the AC wholesale warehouses. It's added into the refrigerant lines at the service valve, and seals from the inside out. Same stuff is on amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Refrigerant-Leak-Kit-1-1-Tons/dp/B00559WTD2 . It works...

Former hvac installer here, 5-600 sq ft per ton is normal, so a 4 ton for your home does not seem oversized, esp with multi stage. You could size lower with zoning. +1 on the Stanleys. My favorite tape. I prefer the regular ones (not fatmax), they are contractor grade. The return is so smooth, those cheap ones will snap back so fast and pinch your fingers. Should be magnetic, the tape itself is a thin gauge steel.

For your desired allocation of 70/30 with 20% international, a tax efficient allocation would look like:

$5,600 international
$12k total bond
Total = $40k
