I think because people see bonds in negative zone last few months so they rather take risk with stocks thinking that they can handle the crash (if any).

For only 3 years, I would recommend to put in Traditional 401k and IRA (if you are qualified) so you can reduce current earned income to lower tax.

Re: Do maintenance free car batteries last as long in warm/hot climates?

I can't tell you how to spend your money, but that's not how I do it. My insurance is a jumpstart in the trunk (with lithium battery that can last a very long time). And I replace a battery when it really dies. I do this as well, but there is a little bit of a false sense of security involved. When...

Re: Do maintenance free car batteries last as long in warm/hot climates?

I replace car batteries every 4 years, even when they are working fine. I want to buy a battery when convenient and replace it on a sunny day in my driveway instead of in a parking lot or along the side of the road. Same here. I price one out with the features I want at my leisure, buy, and replace...

It all depends how much you want to spend annually with age in the calculation. There is someone, in another thread, who cannot safely retire with $2.7M asset while annual expense is $140k.

The BEST thing I spent money on is buying index funds. While buying things will likely lose value overtime, investing index funds is multiplied over the years and helps me to retire. Without investing index fund, my money may help making bank CEO richers but I won't be able to retire anytime soon.

Hard drive is cheap nowadays, you can buy a new one and re-install everything fresh. After that, try to retrieve data from your old computer (I hope you have already backed up your data). If that doesn't fix it, then you need a new computer.
