I'm aware of positions at bioscience companies that involve things like data analysis or device development that also require an MD. This means they will pay well, there won't be a ton of people applying for the positions, and you still leverage something that few people have.

2. Since the reviews are all over the place, for those who have a film like this on their windows and are pleased with the product, do you have a link to the product that works? I put this on 2 front windows near ground level, it works well. I have tested it by walking outside at night to look inside w/ the light on - figures are 'blurry' and no detail can be made out etc. During the day it performs even better as its light outside. https://gilafilms.com/for-home/gila-privacy-d-cor-waterfall-window-film Install was pretty simple, I did buy their spray though some folks suggest making your own - I just wanted it done right the first time. What I like is that it is removeable - so if in 5-10 years I want it gone or a different style I can si...

Re: Laptop Display Settings: It's Killing Me
I just received my new Laptop, a Lenovo Ideapad 3. It's replacing two previous Lenovo machines. My eight year-old Yoga 2 is still operational. Here's my issue, the display on the new one is "washed out" in appearance. Not brightness, but contrast and color. I tried various settings in Windows 10, also chatted with Microsoft and Lenovo technical support without resolving. Cannot get the displays on the two machines to match in appearance. In the most simplest explanation, a side-by-side of both laptops displaying the FOX News website -- the text on the Yoga 2 is is black and on the Ideapad 3 it's light blue. Can I get them to match, and solve my problem? Open to advice and where to find a solution. have you looked at/tweaked the a...

I'm hearing impaired. I still use a Samsung Galaxy S5 because the call volume is loud enough for me to hear comfortably. (No, I don't want to rely on T-coil and my hearing aids - it takes too long to switch the aids to T-coil setting.) It really is time for a new cell phone. Reviews usually say nothing about call volume, even when they describe sound quality. I was thinking of a Pixel 4a until a few reviews said briefly "could be louder." So: do you have personal experience with a currently available phone with good volume? I'd make sure whatever parts/fixtures you buy, they are 'common', meaning, its easy to find parts to replace/fix. If you buy items that are one-offs, too unique, from stray random manufacturers etc - the lower the probability (or higher difficulty) you can locate parts in X years to fix.
Your contractors fixation on Menards is peculiar. My experience- when doing projects one often needs to run to multiple stores to find parts/materials to complete a project (due to stock, product quality, or whatnot).
Also, pretty sure Menards and HDs rebates will not apply to 'special orders' - something to read deeper on if you special order items.

There is one thing you can do, which I hope doesn't go away. It is this: go up to the pulldowns to get an alternate view of balances and holdings. By default, you land on the big font and more open screen with less info. This is more phone/tablet friendly. But if you go to the pulldowns, you get more compact fonts with more info. This is perfect for a PC. ^^^^This is what I do. I NEVER use the larger font/excessive white space screens except the default one that comes up when you sign in. I immediately use the pull down menu to view my holdings. Same. Option 3 seems really poorly thought out to me. what happens if the fan fails? or doesn't draw enough volume etc. Personally wouldn't want to depend on 1 simple fan to pull air through the attic.
Similar for Option 2 with no gable venting. Ridge vents in a snow belt (esp the NE) can get covered w/ a foot of snow so no ridge ventilation when that occurs. Gable vents will not get covered with snow.
You mention nothing of vent chutes in your design, wondering who is installing those, or if they are they already installed.
If a roofer/contractor is recommending these options to you I'd look to someone far more experienced in your area for the job.

Thanks for input/responses. Appreciate the insight into others experiences. I think my issues stem from serious lack of planning from folks above. One 8AM meeting was cancelled at 9PM the night before, as I feel glued to email 24/7 (which I plan to change) I happened to see it and contacted others to inform them (sent text). There have been instances of meetings called for early the next AM but the meeting invite is sent at 7-9PM window the night before. Has happened a few times in fact which has helped create the friction. I don't want to be seen as 'the slacker' so feel compelled to keep on top of changes as such. Guess I'm at the point of not checking anything at night or on weekends anymore (?), sounds like some above have done just that.

blurred lines with work hours and working remote
Working remote in a Zoom universe, it often feels like the workday is 24/7/7 as (one simple example) people set up meetings at 9PM for the next day at 8AM.
At times it feels like you need to check work email/other 24/7 to not miss something.
How does your company deal with this? what are the expectations? or, are there none?
(not just referring to spontaneous meetings that 'pop up' late at night)
Are you at home with your kids and family at 8PM continually checking work emails on the couch to not miss something critical? Feels at times that you're never really 'away from work'.
(Clearly in some occupations its expected to be connected 24/7, that is of course a different thread)

Re: "Beacon," Vanguard's new mobile app
There already is a Vanguard app in the Play Store (?)

Its a Beta version "This app is in development. It may be unstable"RickBoglehead wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 2:35 pm Beacon is not new. I have had it for a long time. Vanguard appears to have replaced their old app with Beacon, that's what is new. Beacon was last updated 2/24/21. It is now obsolete.

Re: Today’s emergency alert?
I disable all alerts on my phone except for "extreme threats" or "severe threats", everything else I turn off else far too many pop ups all day long. Did not get anything today.

Re: Painters made a mess of new home
^^ this. I see the OPs update, but, running a roller can splatter paint everywhere. Sounds like inexperience (to me).Firemenot wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 7:59 am Decent pro painters don’t get paint on areas not intended to be painted. It’s that simple. And if they do, they immediately wipe it off before it cures. There should be no need for paint removal in the first place. They were either cutting corners or using staff without proper training.
OP - I'd double check your woodwork....acetone on a rag can be damaging.

Lucid electric cars & stock
Company has popped up in my feed frequently in the past week https://www.lucidmotors.com/
Lucids first vehicle release is this Fall (?)....is this company expected to survive and be a player in the electric vehicle market? looking for insight.
Curious if anyone bought stock at their IPO? and what the long term outlook in this company is?
and/or anyone buy one of their vehicles on pre-order? Lucid vs Tesla...will this be the story in 2022?

Re: External SSDs
and you access all your financial and personal accounts on this device? what OS is it running?I have a 15+ year-old laptop that I use as my daily driver.
sounds like a huge and completely avoidable security risk.
Laptops are cheap. By the time you buy an external SSD of worthwhile size, put that $$ towards a new laptop. You can buy one with a HDD if you wish (per your comment in your first post). They are often cheaper as (most) folks want SSDs.

From reading, you should repost this exact question to multiple people in this thread.
Feel free to 'single out' others here. Thanks. Moving on.
